Sick New World Makes Its Texas Debut With System of a Down, Deftones, Slayer and More

The heavy music festival heads to Fort Worth on October 24, bringing more than 50 artists to Texas Motor Speedway for its first Texas edition.

Sick New World is heading to Fort Worth, Texas, for the first time on Saturday, October 24, bringing a lineup of rock, metal, and alternative artists to Texas Motor Speedway. Headlined by System of a Down, Deftones, and Slayer, the festival will feature more than 50 performers, including Evanescence, Knocked Loose, AFI, Marilyn Manson, Power Trip, and many others. Since launching in Las Vegas in 2023, Sick New World has built its reputation around bringing different generations of heavy music together, from established nu-metal and industrial acts to newer hardcore and metalcore bands. Its arrival in Fort Worth marks the festival’s first expansion outside Nevada.

The lineup reflects several decades of heavy music, bringing together artists who helped define their respective genres with bands developing their own sounds today. System of a Down and Deftones remain two of the most recognizable names in alternative metal, while Slayer will mark the 40th anniversary of their influential 1986 album Reign in Blood. Artists such as Coal Chamber, Kittie, Ministry, and The Prodigy represent earlier generations of rock and alternative music, while Knocked Loose, Dying Wish, Scowl, and Sleep Theory bring a newer generation of heavy music to the festival. The variety offers attendees a chance to experience everything from thrash metal and industrial rock to hardcore and modern metalcore throughout the day.

Texas Motor Speedway will host the one-day festival across four stages, with gates scheduled to open at 11 a.m. In addition to the performances, attendees can explore artist merchandise, interactive displays, and other attractions, including an exhibit celebrating the 25th anniversary of System of a Down’s Toxicity. With dozens of performances scheduled throughout the day, fans will likely have to choose between overlapping sets, making the festival schedule an important part of planning their experience.

The decision to bring Sick New World to Fort Worth introduces the festival to a region with a longstanding connection to rock, punk, hardcore, and metal. North Texas has produced numerous influential musicians and continues to support an active heavy music community through independent venues, local promoters, and touring performances. Hosting Sick New World at Texas Motor Speedway also provides a different setting from the festival’s original Las Vegas location, giving organizers an opportunity to establish the event in a new market.

With its first Texas edition approaching, Sick New World will bring together established acts, emerging artists, and fans from across the heavy music community for a full day of performances. The festival’s expansion represents an important step in its development, with Fort Worth serving as the first test of how the event translates beyond Las Vegas.

Red Dirt Rhythm will be on-site at Sick New World Texas on October 24, capturing performances and sharing original concert photography and coverage from throughout the festival.
